Challenge

As Sales and Marketing Director of this leading German fashion design agency, known for introducing Italian collections to Germany such as Benetton, Giorgio Armani, Versace, Valentino, Gianfranco Ferre, Trussardi, etc., charged with reactivating accounts and brands that were underperforming.

Action

  • Bonneville sportswear collection and Chinook trouser lineCalled on key accounts to turnaround previously mismanaged relationships. Provided the lines that clients wanted and sold-in additional brands on trial basis.
  • Reinvented the Bonneville sportswear collection by creating new positioning targeted to 18-35 year old men. Oversaw packaging and clothing re-design and made specific recommendations that were implemented.
  • Initiated the revival (was a major brand in 1950’s) of a high-end handmade shoe collection, Kalman & Kalman and created a strategic development plan.
  • Conceived and developed the casual trouser line, Chinook (a precursor to Levi’s “Dockers”).

Results

  • Persistent client relationship management and introduction of lines that met market demand resulted in significant revenue growth and an increase in new Fashion Stage customers and revenue.
  •  Kalman & KalmanWithin one year, Kalman & Kalman brand was available at all top clothing and shoe stores in Germany and Austria, with a 25,000 single order from the top chain. Neiman Marcus carried line in U.S. as well as top Fifth Avenue retailers. Success of men’s line led to creation of women’s shoes under the same brand name. Realized a 30% increase in sales year over year. Held Merger & Acquisition meetings with Mr. Edward Green, one of the world-market leaders in premium handcrafted shoes.
  • Kept the Bonneville line alive and it still continues today.
