Challenge
As President, CEO, Shareholder and General Manager of Golf Courses in Munich and Augsburg, challenged to build 6 executive golf courses within 5 years in all major cities in Germany - a $15 million project. Concept was to create the new leading German golf company by positioning locations within city limits to allow golfers to play more often and create a beginner-friendly environment.
Action
- Obtained building permits in record time that involved negotiations with 45 different departments and various people from farmers to CEOs.
- Began building in under one year when approval process usually takes 5-8.
- Developed campaign to distribute 1,000,000 flyers to Munich households, promoting “Golf for Everybody.”
- Hired and managed all personnel including, golf pros, restaurant staff, greens keeper and office administration.
Results
- Exceeded all deadlines in building courses.
- Realized the fastest selling of memberships in a German golf club.
- Introduced first credit-card accepting vending machine for golf balls dispensing machine at Driving Range
- Approached by Jack Nicklaus / Golden Bear Company to discuss purchase of the GolfRange concept.
- Based on successful relationship during GolfRange negotiations, was recruited by Jack Nicklaus Golf Course Design to manage golf course design across Germany, Austria and Switzerland for this industry giant.
